BACKSCATTER PROTECTION
Backscatter is a side-effect of spam and other malicious emails where servers receiving the spam bounce the message to an innocent party. This happens when the malicious sender falsifies the message to contain a sender address that is the same as the recipient address, or uses another innocent address as the sender. Many, if not a majority, of unsolicited messages employ this tactic. The result is a flood of bounced messages that can often sneak past filters and be placed in innocent users' inboxes. What's worse is the innocent domains that are bouncing these messages are commonly accused of sending spam, and are often blacklisted themselves. To overcome this frustrating problem, MX Force has developed an intelligent backscatter engine that can detect most backscatter messages, and remove them before they're allowed to cause a problem. Our engine allows legitimate bounced messages to still move through the system unabridged. There is also a 'strict' setting which can stop all bounced messages from reaching their destination.
